Forgetting the admin password turns to be a nightmare for the users. We herein provide you the simple instructions on how to generate a new super password to allow you login the DVR, then reset the password. We provide this instruction based on premise that you have ordered DVRs from us, or you are using similar DVRs with same embedded firmware like our products. Random super password generation requires you with the password generation software.

  • To reset password use telnet access with login 'root' and password 'xc3511'. Then go to '/mnt/mtd/Config/' (cd /mnt/mtd/Config/) directory and delete all files 'Account' (use 'rm -f Account.' command). After reboot DVR will accept empty password for admin. Also while I looked for solution I found 3 password generators for DVRs.
  • Power off the DVR / NVR. Disconnect the cameras from the back of the DVR / NVR. Power on the DVR / NVR. After powering the DVR / NVR on, the system will stop restarting, or continue restarting. Follow the applicable steps below to continue troubleshooting. If the DVR / NVR stops restarting: Disconnect the HDD.

  • Reset default on your disk array and try again. 6) WAN This port is used to connect your device to Internet. 7) LAN This port is used to connect IP cameras to this device with a hub (if necessary) locally. 8) MIC IN Connect to a microphone for audio transmission. 9) AUDIO OUT Connect to a speaker for audio transmission. 10) External I/O Ports.

Can DVR/NVR be reset by CMOS button battery? Similar to computers, each main-board of DVR/NVR devices has a 3V button battery. Some people may naively think by short-circuiting or taking battery out will reset the DVR/NVR. However, doing this only reset the date and time of your device, it will not reset the password.

Download Superpassword Software for XM/Hislicon DVRs

After you download the software, and do the following procedures to generate a new temporary super admin password.

Run the software SuperPassword.exe, it will pop-up tool window as below: For mac sonicstage.

Input the current date (year, month, day) as below:

Click 'OK', it will generate a temporary super password which is only working for a day.

Using the generated new password login into the DVR, the DVR will remind DVR will reboot, the system reset to default password.

To rest the password of Dahua DVRs, you can contact Dahua technical support team, then send the current date and time of your device to them. They will use the password generator to create a temporary password. If you don't want to wait, you can download the software and create the pwd by yourself.
